The Area
One of Cornwall's oldest towns, Bodmin's central location and direct access to the A30 makes it a great base for exploring Cornwall, however the town itself has plenty of attractions without driving too far.
The Bodmin and Wenford Railway will take you back to the 1950's with the sights and smells of a bygone age, for a 13 mile journey aboard a steam train. The train departs from Bodmin General station, only a 10 minute walk from the apartment and runs throughout the year.
Adjacent to the apartment is the incredible Discovering 42 science museum, with interactive display made by local artists. They bring to life physics, engineering and environmental issues using hands on interactivity, with a constantly evolving range of exhibits, plus a small cafe.
Just outside the town is the National Trust's Lanhydrock House and Gardens, a quintessential country house and estate.
After a devastating fire in 1881 the Jacobean house was refurbished in high Victorian style, with the best in country house design and planning with all the latest mod-cons.
Make sure to leave time for a stroll around the extensive gardens and year round colour, plus the extensive woodlands and riverside walks.
Bodmin is also a cycle hub for those wanting to exercise away the pasties and cream teas !
The Camel Trail links to Padstow via Wadebridge, or to Wenford Bridge on Bodmin Moor. At Cardinham Woods Cycle Trails, to the East of the town you will find numerous trails to suit all abilities, even the most proficient downhill riders with the red grade Hell's Teeth Trail.
Lanhydrock estate also has numerous off road trails and it's easy to pick up the Cornish Way from Bodmin, which is part of the National Cycle Network. Bike hire is available in several locations locally or also in Wadebridge.
For evening entertainment we're often spoilt for choice, with the excellent 'Into Bodmin' organising varied events, either at their base at The Old Library or at venues around the town, including St Petrocs Church. Click the link to see what's on Into Bodmin.
For live music head to the BEAT (Bosvenna Events Arts and Theatre) a new venue, with a great atmosphere. Click the link to see what's on at The BEAT.
